The publication “The history of Kosovo in history textbooks in Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia” gives an overview of the most relevant eras in the history of Kosovo, from ancient times to the present date, as presented in the history textbooks in Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia. The history textbooks of these five countries, as approved by their respective ministries for education, served as the basic source for the comparison of the similarities and differences presented therein, highlighting where fallacies appear in each.
The publication aims to indirectly point out the inter-relations the five countries’ governments have and the message they send out to future generations. It also attempts to clearly and factually observe the often contradictory pretensions of the peoples in Kosovo.
The author Shkelzen Gashi has attained his BA in political science at the University in Kosovo, and attained his MA at universities in Bologna and Sarajevo. Gashi has authored numerous publications, books and articles about the history of Kosovo.
